Press ReleaseFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE September is National Recovery Month around our great nation and Mothers Against Meth Amphetamine (MAMA) is organizing their Annual Recovery Walks in Polk County – Lake Wales, Bartow and Lakeland. Recovery Walks truly energize and give hope to people who have been affected by addiction. It brings people together in all stages of recovery, their families and friends. People in recovery are just like you and me with hopes and dreams for the future. It is so rewarding to see individuals, families and citizens in our community joining together celebrating recovery rather than reinforcing the stigma that so often applies to them. We are proof that effective faith-based recovery programs work and people in your community are on the journey to recovery. Florida MAMAs continues to move in an exciting direction. Thanks to God’s blessings we have made great strides in expanding our mission. There is a heartfelt commitment to the organization by the board, staff and families of MAMAs. We continue to move forward bringing awareness and education through the Meth Destroys: The High is a Lie campaign. We would like to invite you to join us by forming teams or by walking individually. Walkers do not have to be in recovery …they only need to support recovery and freedom from addiction. You and other people can participate by walking as individuals and collecting donations. Each individual participating is required to make a minimum $10.00 personal pledge for recovery. Each walker will receive a t-shirt, refreshments, and entertainment. A grand prize will be awarded to the individual that collects the most pledges. Or you might decide to serve as a Team Captain. You will then have the responsibility of registering your team by filling out the enclosed Team Registration Form, recruiting walkers, turning in all donations, distributing t-shirts and coordinating team walkers on the day of the walk. A team consists of a captain and at least 4 other members who have all given a minimum $10.00 personal pledge for recovery that entitles the giver to a Recovery Walk t-shirt. Team Members then raise money by collecting pledges from family, friends and co-workers. Teams are welcome to carry banners for increased visibility. All participating Teams will be recognized in the program that is distributed to all walkers and the news media. We will be awarding a grand prize for the team that collects the most money. If you’d like to join up with a team or become a team captain we have a team coordinator to assist you in every step of the way. We have attached a Team Roster & Registration Form and Individual Registration Form for you to complete and turn in to our office in order to receive your pledge packet. Help us bring hope for recovery in our community! If have any questions or would like to schedule a time to pick up your pledge packet or arrange to have one mailed to you, please call our office at (863) 519-0000. The goal of this campaign is to provide education, awareness, resources and support for addicts, their families and the community. Your financial support will help fund our MAMAs Recovery Walks! In return for your gift, you will be recognized on the t-shirts that the walkers will wear, as well as, be listed in the programs.
